I know it’s been a few days. Not like anyone called to see if I was still alive….
I have blisters on my back from the sunburn weekend that was Memorial Day. Wednesday afternoon, just before kick boxing, some of them popped open and started oozing yellow stuff. Pretty gross actually. When I went to get dressed the next day I found that my bra strap was rubbing right over the blisters. I took one of the ‘free sample’ maxi thin feminine hygiene thingys and used it as padding between the bra and blisters (sticky side to bra strap). This also acted like a sponge for any yellow fluid that leaked out of the blisters.
Work has been pretty hectic this week with someone on vacation and another person out of the office due to ‘questionable’ circumstances. When that person called late last week it wasn’t to speed their return to work, it was to find out “who’s doing my work while I’m out?”. We were all a little shocked. I mean, if I was out of work due to something I did, or didn’t, do I would want to clear up the issue as soon as possible to return. There is a paycheck on the line after all. To get the “who’s doing my work?” call… just crazy. Now it’s become the joke in the office. We keep asking each other “who’s doing my work?”, in funny comedy voices. Oh, and no one is doing the work while this person is out.
Speaking to Robby Wednesday about my riding frustration, he suggested I look at getting a heart rate monitor. Sure, you think you are riding hard, but are you really? He was suppose to bring in a bike magazine on Thursday, but didn’t end up coming to class. Neither did Michelle.
Michelle was complaining after class Wednesday that there are just no good clothes out there to buy. I mean, work appropriate, comfortable, and not in funny colors. Apparently, it’s hard to find capris and khaki this year. I suggested she modify some of her current khakis to be capris. It’s just a giant hem really. She said she doesn’t sew. Well the whole capri conversion thing got into my brain and that very night, before going to bed, I took that pair of Old Navy Roll up Capri’s I was mad at and cut a few inches off the bottom of each leg. I then put a draw sting at the bottom of each, more for decoration then for purpose, and replaced the broken draw string at the waist. Viola! Capris! I’ll probably do the same to another one or two pairs of those roll up capris since I hate the whole roll up concept.
There have been a few tragic pit bull stories in the news this week. First was the two shot to death in West Barnstable. My heart aches when I think about it. How do you explain to a dog “It’s not you, it’s your breed”, which isn’t even a breed at all. I hope the dogs didn’t die in vein, that some good comes out of it. I’m not sure what can, but maybe someone will rethink their ‘fear’ of these special dogs.
Speaking of dog fear, I wonder about the cop that shot the dog during a house raid. I spoke with my dad briefly about it this morning. If someone walked into my house in the middle of the night and was confronted by Diezel: a) how would he react? b) could I get out of bed and control him before someone did something bad to him? I can tell you, since Diezel has his summer doggie door, the answer to b would probably be ‘no’. The answer to ‘a’ would be a total crap shoot. I worry about Diez being home all day, to which my dad poo-poo’d. “I’m here just about every day”, he said. I guess I’ll just have to keep fearing the day Diez catches a squirrel at the bird feeder.
Going back to my sunburned shoulders… I was trying to think of a way to self apply sunscreen to my back. Apparently there are spray sunscreens out there, and even a few devices that can be purchased from Yahoo! shopping, but so far I haven’t really found what I’m thinking of. What I’d like is this: take a foam car wax applicator (like the yellow circle things that come with the Turtle Wax container) and have it velcro attach to a back brush like handle. The handle will give the user good control. Using velcro to attach the foam pad applicator will allow it to be removed for easy cleaning or replacement. So far all I have is the handle. The foam applicators… well… I may just have to Yahoo! shop for those.
Wednesday, overall, wasn’t a good day for me. On the way home from work I nearly cracked up the car three times. I know I’ve talked about replacing it a bunch lately, but 3 near accidents? In less then 30 minutes? I think there was some serious misalignment of the stars at that very moment in (commuting) time. I should have just stayed in bed that day.
If you shop at Stop & Rob Cotuit you will find a coupon for $1 off an $8 minimum order from Pizza Wave (located in the same plaza). I think I found Friday dinner.
And now about the title of this entry. Spin art, that booth at the fair where people buy a white frisbee, put it on a spinning wheel, and drop paint on it so that the paint swirls out. I always wondered why people buy those things. It just looks like a tie-dyed shirt. Just another fabulous item only found at the fair.
