I.              I interviewed Dr. Robert Berry.

II.           The interview was conducted at his in-home office.

III.         The interview took place on Sunday, October 27, 2002, at 2pm.

IV.        I interviewed Dr Robert about his career, situations he’s been in because of it, and why he chose it.

V.           I planned ahead for my interview.

A.    I researched what a psychoanalyst does.

B.     I mapped out my questions.

VI.        Since Dr Berry is usually doing the listening, I decided to ask mostly open questions, allowing him to talk as much as he liked.

A.     What pivotal moment caused you to choose your career?

B.     Where did you attend school and receive your doctorate?

C.     What employer would you never want to work for again?

D.     Who would you want to work for again?

E.      What was the most bizarre situation you’ve encountered in counseling?

F.      What case sticks out in your mind the most?

G.     Do you ever worry that a recommendation you’ve made to the court would be wrong?

VII.      In conclusion I thanked him for his time.

A.     I asked him for any advice on giving a speech.

B.     I promised to follow-up with him after giving the speech in class.

C.    I gave him a flowering mum.

VIII.   I only had one listening obstacle during the interview.

A.    Dr Berry had a tendency to talk on, making follow-up questioning difficult.

B.     The follow-up questions were asked after Dr Berry had wondered on to other topics, making the interview rhythm slightly erratic.
