My day out... and then some
So I left later then planned. It's for a good cause. I checked my oil and I was down. A lot. So I poured in a quart and added some of the smoke stuff before topping off the wiper fluid.
I drove up to Alewife station (Cambridge) and took the T from there. Why not Braintree? Way too much T riding involved. Alewife was doing pre-paid parking. For some reason I had totally forgotten to figure in the cost of parking when calculating trip fundage. It's ok, but the .50 extra cents kind of irked me.
Inside the station and two long lines to buy tokens. The vending machine only had a few people and of course the one guy in the front of the line was clueless. He was begging to be screamed at. He finally completed his job as idiot and moved out of the way for more talented individuals to speed through the token buying process. I purchased my four and was on my way.
First stop was Yoshinoya in Central Sq. The young girl was so helpful pointing out the Dashi in powder form (it's all powder form at this store) and when I mentioned Yoshinoya in Japan she sighed happily. I picked up two containers of red pickled ginger and was happily on my way for under $10.
Back on the T and heading for Porter Sq. I had heard about a Japanese food market near the T station so I figured I'd risk getting a little lost. So worth it! I found that Kotobukiya was in the Porter Exchange with many little Japanese restaurants. The little tiny kind just like you find in Japan, complete with picture menus! There was a gift shop and another shop selling kamonos. The Gap was there too, but very out of place looking next to Shishedo.
My purchases at this store were small, but very surprising. Why? you ask... I found shredded beef!! This isn't like roast beef, or something. It's very marbled with fat, making it perfect for my beef bowl topping. I picked up three small frozen packages totalling a little over a pound. I wanted to jump for joy, but refrained since the store was packed with people.
Back to the station and down into the bowel of the MBTA to catch my ride. First, I fell flat on my ass. Not just a simple fall. No, this was a slip on the rubberized stairs, then a bump-bump-bump down about eight more while lying spread eagle on my back. Oh yeah, I'll be black, blue and a nice shade of purple tomorrow. Happily, none of my purchases were damaged. That is the most important part.
On the way home I stopped at Dunkins at the junction of 138 and 24. Note people, the Dunkins card is not currently accepted at this location. Damn. But who cares! I had shredded beef and the Dunkins had chocolate crullers!! (the crullers were called 'sticks'. don't be fooled, they are still crullers)
Almost home and at the Otis rotary I witness a older woman failing to yield in her bright red minivan. She was practically run off the rotary and would have probably been completely off to the side had that snowbank not been there. It's always wise to yield to tow trucks and suv's, especially when they are driving side by side.
Finally home and all giddy about my purchases. Though that could have been the Dunkaccino. Anyway, dad had made progress on the hole in the house so I made a contribution to the effort. No, I didn't climb the ladder or any other physical labor. I instead drove to Depot Home for some shingles. And the clearance sale at Old Navy sucked, just to let you know.
Returning from that trip and while passing Willowbend I am almost hit head on by a silver Grand Am that can't figure out that the yellow line is in the middle of the road for a reason.
And now that I've determined that it's not safe to be out on the roads, I'm going to Stop & Rob for some rolls and soda. Check you peeps out later.
**** I'm still taking applications for a meal with me and my gift card. Apply now!! ***

Day tripping
I'm planning to depart the house around 8:30am (just a half hour from now). Ok, it will probably be closer to 9am by the time I leave.
I'm heading the Cambridge (huh?) to visit the Yoshanoya shop on Prospect St (central sq). I'm in need of red pickled ginger and Dashi. I'm also going to make a stop in Porter Square. I hear there is another Japanese shop there.
If you want to join me, call quickly. Leave a message as I plan to be in the bathroom primping for my day out in public.

Wandering around
I was wandering around the internet. Bouncing from link to link. And I happened to find a recipe for Japanses Beef Bowls. While not exactly how I'd prepare it, the translation to English of the ingredients is the key wow factor.

I forgot to mention...
About that Outback Steakhouse dinner....
Even if you yourself can't apply for one reason or another, but know someone that may be interested, be sure to pass along the link to my site. I'll keep the job listing open until the position is filled.
And that could be a while....

Apply within!!
One of my Christmas gifts was a gift card to the Outback Steakhouse. Now, I love to eat out, but funny enough, I've never been to Outback Steakhouse.
What I'm looking for is someone to join me for a meal. Pay for your own drinks (since everywhere I've been, that's the biggest percentage of the bill). You'll have to sit at the table (or bar?) with me. Conversation must happen. And you must enjoy yourself.
So if you'd like the job of eating at the Outback Steakhouse in Hyannis with me and my gift card, please apply. Total strangers accepted. All applications will get a response (though it could be a rejection letter).
Please apply! Seriously!! I'm hungry!!

Should I?
Should I complain about my hours long commute home? Should I comment on the continuing lack of efforts to clear the snow? Should I keep wondering what to eat for dinner? Should I worry about slipping on the icy stairs? Should I want to take pictures of the snow as it clings to the trees? Should I bother to worry about the next semester of school? Should I make the dog a scarf?
I shouldn't.
These are all insignificant issues compared to the thousands of dead (people & animals) from a wave on the beach.

Go Slow -- blizzard update
It took me an hour and half to get to work this morning.
I left the house at 8am and thought I'd best take the main roads to work since the back roads seemed overly packed with snow. This is a definite mistake.
A drive that takes seven minutes (tops) took an hour. Route 28 had solid packed snow which was frozen solid. On the uphills cars were spinning their wheels. This was especially true in front of the nursing home in Mashpee and by the Cotuit water pumping station. It was so bad that people were calling into the local talk radio station to report of 18 wheelers stuck on the hills and that no one was going anywhere.
There was a clear change point. Once you pass through the lights in Cotuit, at the Stop & Shop, the roads were practically bare. Some people speculated that it was a different contractor hired by the state. Some said we were 'blindsided' by the storm. Heck, that was the headline in the local paper, but we all know how crappy their reporting is. I think it's the fact that Mashpee declared a 'state of emergency' to cover it's ass when it came to the DPW not wanting to work on Sunday night.
As for dad's attempt at snow blowing the neighborhood, it ended when he encountered the ice damns at the bottom of the first driveway and burned out his drive belt. Then he finds out the manufacturer is out of business. Better luck next time.

The temp is...
Ugh, a nice toasty 6.3°F. Bundling up is, well, impossible. I actually walked the Diez Meister this morning, on the icy roads. Heck, I live in a town that declared a state of emergency. With the cold snow, I had to actually turned the thermostat up a little this morning. Last night I tucked Diez up in his fleecey blanket. Poor thing was feeling a little chilly.
Hopefully the temps will go up. And hopefully none of the ice encased branches fall on anything.

Did I mention?
There is about a foot of wet snow on the ground, it's still falling, and the snow blower is non-functioning.

Let there be light!
I guess the dark is good for something... the power company turned the power on for the street and wouldn't you know, we have some! I guess since they couldn't see the poor connection on our house, they didn't disconnect us. Yeah! I can shower and not smell really bad.
Posted by Rebecca at 07:50 AM | Comments (0)
Open Wide
12:30am-ish the power flickered out. It was just enough to shut everything off. Bit it came right back on. At 1:45am there was a loud crash and out went the power again.
Dad came upstairs since we have windows on all sides of the house. We could see a vehicle going backwards and forwards out on the street. I thought it might be a crash. Dad went out to see what was going on. Huge tree trunk in the road. On its fall it took out the electric line to the house across the street. Since we figured it would be a while before we had power, we all went back to bed.
A little after 5am it was the sounds of chainsaws that woke us up. Bundling up and putting a coat on Diez, out in the snow we went to shovel off the stairs.
I finally made it to the bottom stair and could barely see the side of the house. What I could see wasn't looking good. The side of the house was dark around the electrical wire connection. It appeared, in the dim light of the tree crew, that the house had burned. I headed in the house for a flashlight and my dad.
We finally got a good flashlight to shine up at the house. The power had pulled partially away from the house, a fissure opened up along the line of the plywood exterior sheathing.
Feeling fairly defeated and discouraged, we headed into the house to tell mom the bad new. No power anytime soon. See, the power company is responsible for the poles, and the wires between them. Unfortunately, homeowners are responsible for connections from the pole to the house. So until we can get someone out to the house, and cut a hole in the Jesse/Jamie room to pull the cable tight, no power for us.
I guess it's a good thing I have a gym membership where I can go take a shower. After we all shovel out that is.

Just when you thought it was over....
We studied for three hours yesterday. Even with all that, I had problems remembering the 'double' in double-declining balance. Crap. But it's over and done now, no need to cry over spilt milk.
On a frustrating and sad note, I received a letter from the registrars office stating they were not going to accept my grade of C- for my summer class. I may try an appeal, and I'm hoping my prof from the summer still has my graded final that shows I improved thoughout the semester. Doubtful, but since BSC will take two C- grades towards graduation, I don't see why 4C's won't accept this one. Especially since 4C's has it as a requirement, but hasn't offered it in years.
Tonights final is Real Estate. My fall back career is looking much more appealing every day.
*sigh* I can't wait for school to be done.
So if I can't get this credit done, I can always just walk graduation and get a blank diploma. Not likely.

Best Buy Fucking Sucks!!
Let me just tell you why...
I was searching for the perfect MP3 player/recorder. I limited my search to a few different models then went price searching. I found the IRiver 895 on sale at Worst Buy for 10% off. Sale price is $179.99. Since Monday was Xmas bonus day at work, I was all excited.
Monday I get my check and cash it before braving the mall. The mall sucks big time. Circling the parking lot like a pack of vultures. I finally stole a spot and ran in.
Took me a while to find the item. MP3 players don't have a designated area unless they are the real Ipods. So I found my purchase, then went and waited in line. And waited.
And waited.
I get to the checkout and the girl needs help with the security tag. That done, she rings my purchase. $188.99. Huh? Why are you charging me more?
After tax the price is ten dollars more. I decline to complete the purchase. The girl tosses it in a basket and waves for the next person in line.
I stop at the front desk person and ask her if the store will price match the website "no. merry christmas". Um, ok, you suck!
It should be noted, per the website:
However, if you purchase an item online or at a store kiosk and choose store pick up, and the item is offered at a lower price when you pick it up, you will be charged the lower price.
So price matching only works in reverse. How stupid! What if all I had was cash? Then I couldn't buy an item at the sale price. Talk about alienating customers.
So I ordered the item online for instore pickup. This gives me some price protection, but not much.
So, with the snow continuing to fall, I have to AGAIN go to the mall to pick up my purchase.
All this drama over $10. Maybe I am Scrooge.

So much to type, so little fingers
Here's some stuff I've been negligent in blogging about:
School: I've completed a couple finals this week. Business Plan was a oral presentation went well, only had four powerpoint slides to keep me focused. The score is split between the oral presentation and the written plan. I scored a 90% on the oral part. I'm sure my written plan sucks and will pull my grade way down. The older married couple that sat behind me scored a 75%, partly because they didn't pay attention when the time limit was set at 10 minutes. They could have gone for an hour, repeating similar points over and over again. They had a fairly decent written plan, but they should have had someone help them with the financials. The group of us wrapped up at 6pm. An hour and 15 late.
BusiLaw final was Friday morning and I didn't study whatsoever. I'm not particularly worried.
Work: We are having lunch with the managers on Monday. Lunch with just the office staff on Tuesday. Much beyond that (like what is irritating me) I can't blog about.
Brother: He's arrived in FL in one piece. So should I say something like "He's down there keeping the snow birds from flying the coop". Yeah, I think that should be his thing. I'll let you know when he figures out how to boil water.
Me: What can I say? I have to study, clean up the house, and I have a bunch of sewing projects running through my head. I also have to web projects (outside of the C-house site) I want to work on. I spent 20 minutes on that this morning, and it reminded me just how relaxing I find HTML coding to be. Yeah, geeky me. I'm also really wishing I could figure out some Podcasting on a windows 'puter. I mean, really, it's not like I can afford a mac, or any other new little gadget the big guys can ask for (and receive for free).
There are some personal family issues going on, just starting today. I don't know how it will play out, or how some of us will survive happily intact. Just ride it out I guess.
Hopefully, this next week will fly by so I can get back to the business at hand... blogging!

Try this...
I'm only allowing myself this one blog entry for today....
I used my Yepp (YP-30SH) to record my morning. It ended up being three blocks of me rambling.
- VI001.wav is the drive from home to school.
- VI002.wav is the drive from school to Kmart.
- VI003.wav is the drive from Kmart to Stop & Rob.
Now if you listen through the final file, you'll notice at the end it just kind of stops. Well apparently I shorted out a few things beyond the battery in my Yepp. Even the CD in my car was no longer recognized. That's a lot of static, and I didn't even feel a tingle.
So with a dead battery in the Yepp, I didn't get to rattle off the items purchased at the store: Stoffers White french bread pizza (on sale), juice (on sale), wings and milk.
I'm going to look into a different MP3 recorder since the Yepp uses some proprietary format that converts to wav and just has shitty quality. Adam Curry and Todd (I can't think of his last name) are using IRiver's in various models. I may look into that.
Seriously, let me know if this is worth continuing to try to do. I always think of things I'd like to blog about, but with time against me, my blog has lacked serious content.

He's gone, gone, gone...
Sometime, early, before my alarm went off, he left. The truck was loaded trailer connected, and a co-pilot (my dad) assigned.
My brother is gone.
Adios.
It's so quiet in the house. In fact, with the exception of Diez and the kitties, I'm the only oxygen breathing (wait, how is the plant classified?) thing. Brother didn't even say good-bye!
So, here it is. Good-bye Jamie. Good luck with school. Don't get any more speeding tickets.

What food caused this?
This morning's strange dream: I had to use a laundry mat / video arcade to do some washing. I was there in the late evening and all the machines were available, not a soul or load in site. So I did one wash and had one in the dryer before going to sleep. I didn't sleep there in the laundry mat / video arcade, and this is a dream so consistency isn't important. The dream picks up in the morning when I go back to the laundry mat / video arcade to find the place PACKED with people doing laundry, all the machines going. It's like 6am and all these people are pushing and shoving to get to their laundry. I find my dry load on top of one of the dryers, all balled up with dryer lint coating my holly green fleece shirt from Old Navy. I start searching for my wet load, which had about five pairs of jeans and had been in a commercial machine costing $6.70. I find the machine, but no laundry. I look all around the place, even under the pinball machine, but no wet load of jeans to be found in the entire laundry mat / video arcade. I found an 'attendant', but I think his purpose was to take quarters out of the machines. I asked him where my lost jeans might be, but he was unhelpful. I would have asked the people at the customer service desk. They were busy spinning records in the DJ booth.
Back in the non-dream world, brother did take my laundry out of the wash and put it in the dryer for me. Funny thing was that he did ball it up in the laundry bag, but didn't get dryer lint all over it. This just proves it's better to do laundry at home then at a laundry mat / video arcade.

Success!
Well my final puzzle piece for my busiplan is complete. See, I've had the idea for a coat in my mind, but actually making it hadn't happened... until this morning! Even though this coat looks shinny, it's really a micro-suede polyester. I was going for the bomber jacket look, and I think I'm close. Also, the design is set up to keep the coat from riding to one side or the other.
Of course, once again, it was a four hour work of love. How do I know? The top 40 count down played the top song as I took the pictures from the last fitting.
Other things happening today? James is trying to finish up his packing to depart tomorrow night. I'm doubtful he'll pull it off. I did pick him up a digital camera as an early Christmas present. He said he wouldn't use it much, but I pointed out that I wouldn't be around to borrow a camera from and the light dawned. So now he has no excuse to skip taking pics of the cool FL bikes during Daytona Bike Week.

Not so healthy nut I am
So I went to bed around 10pm last night. Around 4:30a Diez thought a trip outside was needed. OK, I kicked him out and I took a potty break myself. I then let him back in and I went back to bed.
Now figureing I went to bed at a reasonable time, I figured I would naturally wake up at a reasonable hour. Well after dreaming of meeting the hunky electrician of my fantasies, I woke up to the thought of "oh shit, I have no english muffins". This means I have nothing to eat for breakfast.
And it's 7am!
Not reasonable whatsoever. So squashing my fantastic hunky electrician dream with morning reality, I got out of bed and let Diez outside. It's easier to prep his food and water when he's not able to hover around my feet. After that, and letting Diez in, I found a chilled Milky Way to take care of breakfast.
I'm determined to be productive today. So once Adam Curry is done playing, I'm gonna shower and go on with the day.

Geek definition dispute
I asked the radio tech at school how to best connect my Yepp to my car music system. He asked me some technical questions about my current setup, etc. He then asked why I wanted to connect my Yepp to my car music system. "To listen to podcasts" I told him. He had no idea what a podcast was. I tried to explain, but I don't think he understood. He recommended burning them to cd, which is a waste of cd's since you may listen to a podcast twice before moving on to the next episode. So really, using the Yepp in lieu of a true hard drive based portable MP3 player is the way to go.
I explained that I consider myself an early adopter cheep geek (trying to stay cutting edge without spending money). This he countered by saying that if I didn't want to spend 20 thousand dollars on an entertainment system for my car then I wasn't a true geek. Since when did MTV cribs determine geek status? I think this guy was completely off base in his definition of a geek. Geeks aren't caught up with flashy stuff that costs lots of money, they are about the use and the tech behind it. And sharing... always sharing.

Oh e OH eee OHHH o
I have a frustrating situation that I can't blog about due to the public state of a blog. So that's aggravating. The vent is shut off, with pressure building. I'm hoping that after the holidays I'll be able to change the situation. Don't anyone freak out on me, it's ok.
Otherwise, I wanted to rave about my fleece shirts from Old Navy. All snuggly and warm. Love them.
I picked up even more fabric today. UPS brown microsuede and more sherpa. Mom's making a hat for dad, but didn't make it far beyond cutting out the pattern. I guess as long as it's not frozen snow outside, he'll survive.
This weekend is all about the busiplan. Which is good, it needs to be going, going, gone. Next weekend is all about accounting final cram, and the following Wednesday is all about Real Estate final. Oh, I'm loving life.
I found out yesterday I'm out of paper for my printer. I'm bummed out. Buying one ream of paper is not cost efficient, but buying a whole case isn't space efficient.
Speaking of space....
I can't wait for the semester to be over so I have the time to rearrange the furniture in my room! My room has become dysfunctional with no counselor in sight. Geesh.
This morning I had a full on run with Diez. He knew friends were out walking, but I didn't know how far ahead they were. So instead of walking backwards around the neighborhood, I took the normal route and ended up running with Diez 3/4 of the way around. At that point I wasn't sure we'd catch up with the friends, so I let go of the leash. Wow, so trusting I am! Well Diez was able to run fast enough to catch up with them and I jogged a little slower to catch up. It just reminds me that I need more supportive bras.
McFatinabag once again gave me extra food. What is it with these people? This time it wasn't a chicken sandwich, but a medium fry. Too bad there wasn't some kind of game piece or something. Even sharing one medium fry, I wasn't even able to think about the second. So the doggie was able to enjoy a doggie bag full of fries.

Hey good looking
Thanks to all of you that inquired about my sick plant. Turns out it wasn't sick, but infested with some leaf eating bugs. Ew! So the plant got a bath (a little dish soap in water, squirt bottle applicator) from the underside and a grow light on the upside. While it's still recovering (looks kind of leggy) flower buds are visible. Sweet!
My holiday lights that I put up went out. I'm soo over it. Holiday lights are nearly disposable. When the string half goes out, just toss the whole lot. Which I did. I replaced it with two of those net lights. Not quite the entire railing is covered, but the warning label said only three in line, so I couldn't go on with more lights.
My Old Navy order arrived in the mail. It's purfect. Old Navy must ship lots of stuff because they spent the money to have the logo put on the packing tape. Wow, wonder if I'll ever hit the big time like that.
Speaking of logos, I need a cool one and quick. There was a woman in class that gave me one, but I didn't like the name she used. I'm using Short Hair Shirts, but I need a logo that kind of says what it is. Also, sherpa material is on sale this week. Can you say bomber jacket and new slipcover for Diez? Oh yeah, spoiled!
My challenge class is being credited to spring '05 so I think I'm gonna change the date I take it to after finals are done. No point stressing out now. And accounting final is now being held during finals week like it should have been scheduled all along. When he announced this last night someone started arguing with him, even after explaining it would come out of his paycheck if he scheduled differently. Makes sense, but the woman didn't want to hear it. Get a life.
I'd also like an explanation about why, after I fall and go boom, do I get nausea?
James is packing up to leave. Diez is pretty excited. I'm going to take a nap.

Who is Adam?
I didn't have cable when I was growing up. I had that big antenna on the roof. You know the one, more snow then picture on the screen. I watched Live Aid on a UHF channel. That's how no cable my childhood was.
So it should be no surprise that I have no recollection of who Adam Curry is. I suppose it's ok, non-life shattering situation. Thankfully he has a weblog complete with Podcasts. After listening to the last two installments, and installing IPodder, I think it's a good thing to recommend.
And since I'm in the recommending mood, I highly recommend you stay away from the Boston Market Beef Pot Roast with veges and mashed potatoes. You think the pictures on the frozen food box doesn't quite live up to the contents, this one is an outright lie! The chicken pot pie, on the other hand, I heartily suggest you try. But be warned the sodium is very high.

Like you care
I realized, actually remembered, at 6:45am that I had a test at 8am with a shower and commute yet to be done. Mmm, see how my morning was. So when I finally arrived to class, turns out just about everyone forgot, especially the woman who said the few beers last night didn't help. What ever. The fact that we were all there on time should count for something. I mean, the guy who was walking into school and asked me if we had a test today as I was walking out at 8:20am, he shouldn't get any brownie points.
Off to the market for me, to pick up the non-perishables on my list. Then to work.
Crazy day at work, of course. At one point I was asked about going full-time after school was done. I said yes and immediately wanted to take it back. Is staying at this job the best thing for me? Doubtful, but since my degree is not fully realized yet, I guess I can hang out a little longer. Once that's complete, I really think I should look for a job with some opportunity. I don't want to be a modified receptionist as a career choice.
Friday I had gotten a letter from BSC about an outstanding bill and that I should call. It was holding up my transcript request. So I called and was told they oppsed by not taking the hold off my account back in June. That office transferred me to the registrars office so I could get my transcript sent out. They put my on silent hold forever then came back on the line to say it was going to be taken care of but that the other office putting a hold on my account shouldn't have held up the transcript. Hopefully that's done. They seem a little clueless if you ask me. I'll attribute it to the end of the semester and hope they cheer up soon. Rat fink bastards.
In other semi-related news... finals start next Friday and I'm not ready. What the crap was I thinking when I decided to challenge the computer class? Yeah, that was the hot sauce talking. But it's only $75 to challenge, so if a miracle occurs, it will be cheap. If not, I can rechallenge in the spring semester. You think I will sit through that class? Oh, I think not!
I saw my first snow flakes of the season on the way home. I'm not ready for winter. I still haven't packed up my summer clothes.
Go for a walk now. Thank you.

done, sorta
Somehow, time disappeared. I had intended to make a doggie coat for Jade Boxer, but ended up nearly finishing my brochure for busiplan class instead.
I thought it was 5pm, but it seems to be almost 7pm. Now I realize... I have no clean clothes for tomorrow.
So I guess that's that. Off to laundry with a side of accounting homework. Shit.

Going, going, nap
Saturday:
This morning I was disappointed to find I was out of english muffins. Opps. Crackers and cheese for breakfast. Yummy.
Off to Walmart. I wanted to beat the crowds. Picked up a Nukote printer cartridge (like the no-name brand) for $20, whole bunch of fabric for $30 and lots of little things. I also visited the new Dunkins at the Falmouth Mall. You should all go check it out. No line, no wait, pleasant people. Picked up my usual, but declined the suggestion of a donut. I then hit up Staples looking for a specific pen that I saw on the website. No luck. Not even a refill. So with that, I departed Falmouth.
I had planned on driving to Cotuit for the grocery shopping, but I started to dread the extra drive. Not even considering S&S Mashpee, I pulled into Roches. I didn't need much, and they have terrible selection (you can only buy prepared chicken wings), so after spending $4 I headed home.
In the afternoon I put up some holiday lights on my outside stairs. There are icicle lights around the deck with a single string of white lights down the railing. It's ok looking. I'm not creative people, give me a break. I like the subtle lighting effect and may just leave it up year round.
The thing about days off from work, is that the energy level ends at 3pm. It's almost a proven fact! I do nothing after 3pm. I always tell myself that I'll just watch one show, take a short nap, or something. Before I know it, it's 11pm and I've watched the same tv shows I've seen several times before.
Sunday:
My poor house plant. It was covered with cobwebs of the non-spider type (buggy infestation) so I put it in the shower Saturday. Well today I notice the buggies are all over the underside of the leaves. Dad has recommended some dishsoap and water spritzed on them. Add that to the shopping list.
Since I'm much more productive in the morning, or pre-lunch, hours, I wrote a paper this morning for part of my accounting homework. I even emailed it to the instructor to keep from forgetting. Love it.
Diez is enjoying the sunbeam he found.
I made some pizza dough. I'm waiting for it to rise. MMMMmmmmmm........

Popping up
Let me see, what's been thrilling in my life this week?
Well, for example, yesterday I noticed I had stained my newer pink Old Navy V-neck Tee. I blame it on the hot wing obsession. Anyway, this stained bothered my so greatly (it was on my cuff, so always in sight) that I logged on to Old Navy.com and ordered a new one. And a few fleece shirts because I'm starting to feel the low thermometer setting at home.
Wednesday I was pretty pumped about my busiplan and worked on some financial thingies. Looks like sis was right, which if you think about how much she hates to sew, is rather funny. Appears I'll be setting up a 'prestige' pricing scheme. Try a 50% markup. Whoa.
I also was surprised with a big sink yesterday. Huh? You all collectively said it, so I heard you. Yeap, my holiday wish is coming true a few weeks early and my little bar sink is being replaced by a single, normal size, sink. I'm over the moon thrilled.
Diez scratched his nose. He's also has been loving the big cushion from the pappasan chair that James left on the floor. Diez used it for marrow bone chewing the other day and soaked it through with slobber. What a dog. He also de-stuffed Squeeky-Monkey-Head. That means that there is stuffing all over the place and a non-squeeking squeeker on the loose.
With two weeks left of full time school attendance, real job searching is gonna have to start right after finals are complete. I can't believe it's time to go back to the real world, but unfortunately, I have to get on with life again.
I've been listening to the holiday music on the radio, and frankly, I'm not feeling it. I don't want anything for Christmas, and I can't think of what to get anyone else. Even the thought of Chinese take-out isn't thrilling me. Feeling bummed out too?

Do you see what I see?
Has anyone been to any good holiday light displays? I hear Heritage Gardens advertising on the radio, and I know that there is something at the Fair Grounds in North Falmouth. What I want to know is the good ones, the ones that will put me in a holiday mood...
You know, festive.

Ta-da!
My tv recording system is up and working. I just wish it would shut off when it's done recording. Oh, and an hour length show is 598MB, just in case you're on Jeopardy some day soon.

Shitty day
I know, how can it be so when it's so freakn early in the AM?
Things were well until 8:45am. At this time class was dismissed and I headed over to the Assessment office to sign up for my CLEP test. I had my form all filled out, but wasn't sure who to make the check out to. While trying to figure this out, I grabbed one of the pamphlet there to see if it said. Well looky here, the CLEP test I'm signing up for is penciled out as a course equivalent to what I need. Shit, is this for real? Whatever, I'm here, it won't hurt, just sign up and find out later.
Yeah, so it seems all the pamphlets for the CLEP that the school has out and about, with the exception of the penciled out versions in the advising office, state that the CLEP will be my course equivalent. Thrilling. Wonder what else is wrong in the pamphlet.
Then I headed to the puter lab to check my school email. I think I ended up on the slowest computer on campus. I look through my email to find that the information about the challenge exam I had requested during the spring semester had been deleted. Looks like the school computer system did a dump during the summer. Thanks guys.
So sucking up my shitty luck, I head to the registration office to sign up for the challenge. Harder then it sounds. I have to get signatures of people. Not just one, and not just an instructor, but a freakn dean! WTF!?!?!?!
OK, I'm done with school for today.
Or so I thought... Home and I've just emailed the person who hopefully will help me get this stupid challenge thing done. And I've decided to just start taking computer classes starting in the summer, because that's really what I should be doing but with just one class left for my AS in accounting, I can't justify another switch in majors.
I'm gonna go work on some financial statements for my business plan. That should soothe me. Actually, the cup of cocoa I plan to drink will be doing that.

Unfreakin believable!
Brother has been complaining about my non-dishwashing habits. So you'll be surprised to know, he's no better in this department. The dishes he used Saturday to make pizza are still kicking around and are still dirty. Yeah, we'll see his true colors soon enough. I think they will be brown and green.
Then, oh yeah, then I tell my dad that the kid owes me the money for the hard drive I picked him up at Staples and dad is like "he said you owed him money". Um, how do you figure? The guy doesn't go food shopping, yet eats and drinks here. He didn't buy a hard drive on Friday (charged to a Visa with interest compounded), but yet he has one.
Yeah, I can't figure it either. What I do know is he's taking that hidious knife he insists on using. I can't stand that knife!
