Palm trees
I was playing around with my Palm Pilot's this morning (are they still called 'Pilots'?). I have an M130 and a IIIxe. The M runs on a rechargable, build-in battery. Most of the new models do. My IIIxe runs on two AAA batteries which seem to last forever. I was trying to set up Thunderbird to talk to the M with no luck. Oh well. I was able to 'beam' a cool calculator program from the M to the IIIxe. Bonus. I wish the battery life/meter on the M would be more accurate. The thing seems to die in no time at all.
I was trying to use the download version of Palm Desktop to sync and stuff, but it kept bombing on run. So I uninstalled and deleted a bunch of crap. It appears the default install directory is under C: not the Program Files. Worked around that, and used the cd software (which is an older version), and it all worked. I was even able to load up pictures of Diezel onto the M.
The xe is now set for Milen to borrow during the accounting test next month. Yeah.
Otherwise... Diezel is out in the sun enjoying the warm day. He seems very puzzled by all the pine needles falling down on him. I'm going food shopping... I'm out of english muffins!!

Again?
It's that time again... time to renew the cell phone contract. Ugh, and ugher. Verizon has actually been calling my parents every single day for two weeks trying to remind me. Um, I don't really get that either, I think it has to do with solicitations and what not. So I visit the Verizon website to look at phone features and plans. First off, currently I don't jabber much on the phone. Mostly to my sister, but I could always cut down on that if I had to. Second I don't need text messaging, internet, color display, camera, or flip design. I've had a 'peanut' type phone from the begining (by motorola) and really like the basicness of them. Unfortunately the Verizon website is only featuring Samsung, Nokia and LG phones. That would mean new charger, new extra battery, maybe even a new headset for hands free. Geez. I also don't like not being able to hold the phone first, see just how small the buttons are. I'm not a little kid and sometimes I need buttons that will actually stand up to my fat fingers. Then there is the whole plan picking process. Sure, right now I don't need oodles of talk minutes, but what if I meet someone and want to jabber all the time? What if I meet a text messaging addict? OK, I wouldn't date him, but you see my point... if I sign up for a two year plan and lock myself in to such limits I could seriously cramp my future love life potential. I'm torn, damnit! ** Update: I called Verizon and they said I could just stay on my current plan, not under contract. Whoopie! Now I can wait for a good deal to come along and jump ship without penalties. ******** In other news ******* I wondered a few days back what everyone would talk about after the Sox season ended. Well never did I consider they would just keep talking about them. Joy. Even though I've passed the mid point of the semester, I'm still not into school. This is troubling since I have one more semester to go. I'd hate to bail out now, but my heart just isn't into going anymore. I don't see anyone I know in my classes except Accounting. The other classes are filled with strangers that I have no interest in talking to. There's no Jesse in any classes, or 'he who shall remain nameless' since he's still in school too but not on the same education track. Nancy graduated and is doing Leslie program on weekends, and I can't think of anyone else... Regardless, if I don't get my head in the game soon, it could be game over for my degree. I have a few doggie coat ideas in my head. It should be noted that this is where all but two of my doggie coat ideas are. If I should loose my mind to some kind of electrical shock or power surge beyond a medium Dunckachino, there goes my doggie coat patterns. Scary. Really, I want to make three coats this weekend, but I only have material for two. The third is a copy of one I saw online that only came in small and medium size. Like big dogs don't want to look super cool. PHUT! This weekend we change the clocks. I need to make my semi-annual list of clocks. I wish my time obsession would cure it'self, but I doubt it. Good thing computers seem to take care of this item all by themselves. I also need to check the smoke alarm batteries. My fear of fire may be contained to forest fires (don't ask) but I would still feel better if I did a battery check.Posted by Rebecca at 01:30 PM | Comments (0) | TrackBack
Hey...
I don't want anyone to think I'm political, 'cuz I'm not. I admit to be 'anti-incumbant', but that goes to all elected positions (state, local, federal). I posted the video link yesterday because I thought it was kind of interesting to see a political statement from a rapper better known for his homophob stance. Todays little political thing is being posted for pure humor. Don't think I'm making any kind of party endorsement (I'm not registered to a party bye the way). So when you look at this picture below and read the message I want you to laugh at it. I mean, for crying out loud, there is a cute kitten being chased by walking brownies!! And the fact that someone photoshopped this makes it all the more laughable.

Out of juice
Tomorrow I must wake up and go to school. Ugh. Then I am home to migrate mom onto her new computer. It sux big time since it has XP on it. Double suxs. And since I'm always one to multi-task... I have the assignment to help dad write a resume. Oh, and I have to do some homework. On a bizzare note: I paid no attention in accounting class tonight (all two and a half hours worth), but did a lot of work on my business plan project. Crazy, but true. Now I'm two weeks behind in paying attention in that class. Just something about the teaching method (I don't think accounting works well in a lecture format) that is EXTREMELY simple to tune out. Like a switch, and my mind isn't even there. It's actually proving to be some of the most productive class time, but for the wrong class. Oh, sleepy me. Diez is stuffed with pizza crust and crawling into bed... off we go!Posted by Rebecca at 09:49 PM | Comments (0) | TrackBack

Mad dash
I'm working on my website mock up for the doggie coats (as seen in the previous entry). I realized that I only have pictures of two coats, even though Diezels closet is over flowing with coats. I guess a modeling session may have to be booked to get this project going. As for dad's employment hunt... I helped him fill out an application that someone emailed to him. It would have been a lot easier if who ever made the document knew what the crap they were doing. I hate not being able to tab from field to field, and don't get me started on the 'signature' line. Oh yes, let's just ask for a signature in an emailed word document. Fire that 'admin assistant' for stupidity, and thank you. Seriously, it looks like he wants out of retail, and who could blame him? He's looking at an entry level account rep job. Time, time, time... shit. Sleeping last night didn't go as well as it should have. I woke up at 3am with a sharp pain on my right side mid-lower back. No matter how I positioned myself, it stabbed me. I have no idea what brought it on, so I got out of bed and downed four ibuprofen. Yummy. I ended up falling asleep in a mostly upright position and stayed that way for a good hour until the back relaxed and I could lay down with minimal pain. Needless to say, I'm pretty sleepy right now. This morning when I showed up at school I was greeted with a cancellation sign. Joy. Off to the store for doggie food and english muffins. Yeah, I love early morning shopping... no lines! Good night all. I'm too sleepy to continue....Posted by Rebecca at 08:36 PM | Comments (0) | TrackBack
Four hours!!
Made this coat Sunday using no pattern. How the crap will I make another?
By the way, my sister has suggested a retail price of $80 for this coat. It will be the most expensive of the four models available, and is fully lined in the green fleece. (the turtle neck is double fleece)

Julia and me
Everytime I floss my teeth, I think of the movie "Pretty Woman". The scene where Juilia Robert's character is in the bathroom flossing, and Richard Gere's character busts in thinking she's hiding drugs. She says something about good teeth and he cowers like a sheep. If it takes a goofy Cinderella movie from the '80s to get me to floss, then so be it. But you won't catch me with flaming red hair anytime soon!Posted by Rebecca at 01:53 PM | Comments (0) | TrackBack
Wanna Learn?
Let's have a little math/accounting lesson:
You take a quick look and you say "wow, they are rolling in dough!". Yeah, the mustard yellow bar is way high up there, with a big 'ol number on top of it. But look at the little blue bar... it's way down there... way, way down there, that's the key.
You know what that blue bar is? That's what left after the bills have been paid. The article that talks about this graph, "Google sales up, profits double", is very misleading. Yeah, revenues were up 105% and net income was up nearly as much, but it should have been much more. Google is spending so much, that most of the revenues aren't staying with the company. Sure, intellectual property (the people with the brains behind the company) costs money, but when they went public, thus opening their books for public scrutiney, they should have looked at trimming costs somewhere.
I look forward to furture financial reports released by Google. I'm sure it will say a lot for their accountants.Posted by Rebecca at 10:03 AM | Comments (0) | TrackBack

Looking for help?
Do you ever notice things and not realize it until later? Like oh, thats what that was! kind of things. Well, thats what happened to me this week. After noticing dad home a few days in a row, I found out this morning (from my brother of all people) that he was let go from work. This is a bummer moment. Hes a really smart guy, knows Cape Cod retail like the back of his hand, maybe even better. Unfortunately my dad didnt fit in with his employer. I guess thats what happens to everyone. Im sure once hes done with the honey do list, hell go absolutely stir crazy. Anyone know of a good retail management (not really trainee type thing) type jobs? Dad works well with people too, unlike me. He has 30+ years experience in the field, just needs to find that niche.Posted by Rebecca at 11:22 AM | Comments (0) | TrackBack

How much?
After hearing Jesse was considering paying $30 for a fleece hat I knew I had to intervene! A stop at Jo-Ann's fabrics for a yard of artic white fleece and some remnant baby blue fleece (for only $2!!) I'm gonna make a hat for Jesse. The white is for the long snaky part and the baby blue will be around her head. Don't ask details. So this weekend will be all about the sewing machine. MMM... best be sure to have plenty of thread.Posted by Rebecca at 04:33 PM | Comments (0) | TrackBack

Lucky seven
4:45am: Diez wakes me by barking at something outside or downstairs. I tell him 'no' when he comes begging to be let out. Back to sleep we both go. 6:00am: coming back from the morning walk and I figure a quick stop in the basement to put laundry in the dryer shouldn't be too hard. Diez walks through the basement door first and his ears perk up. I'm thinking cat. As I get inside Diez goes ballistic. I look to my right to see a masked bandit (the furry, gray, four-footed kind) peering out from behind a box. Eck! Diez goes crazy. All I want to do is put my laundry in the dryer. But I'm still half asleep. The masked bandit runs off into the unfinished room. Diez is still going crazy. Then masked bandit comes out of the unfinished room and charges Diez! Save me! Diez doesn't know what to do, but puts his face nose first into the charging masked bandit. The bandit is the size of a basketball and looks to weigh well over 20 lbs. The bandit backs off into the unfinished room and I finally wake up and pull Diez out of the basement. Back up in the penthouse, I hold Diez for a snout inspection. Meanwhile dad pops his head in the stairwell asking what the commotion was about. Diez gets cleared for release, and a big towel to dry off from the rain. I go downstairs, still needing to put my clothes in the dryer. (remember? the whole reason I was in the basement to begin with?) Dad is now in the basement rooting around. I figure the bandit is gone since I left the door open. Dad suspects he's up in the drop ceiling of the unfinished room. Just then I turn my head to the right and see a masked face looking down at me! Dad's asking for the gun, bandit is running around in the drop ceiling, and all I want to do is put my laundry in the dryer. Eventually the 22 is found, my brother and dad work at cornering the bandit. Finally, above the closet, in the drop ceiling, the last of five shots takes out the masked bandit. Since dad fired the final shot, he was tasked with clean up. All that, and I still didn't get my load of wash into the dryer. Turns out the washing machine is broken.Posted by Rebecca at 01:46 PM | Comments (0) | TrackBack
Tune this in...
Check out Rock me Radio for some good tunes. They have a country station that I've been listening to at work since I found it Friday. No commercials (so far) and today there is a DJ taking requests via IM. How cool is that! (I can't tune in the local country station here at work, thus the need for a net station)Posted by Rebecca at 11:43 AM | Comments (0) | TrackBack

Puppy friend?
Will you be my puppy's friend on November sixth? I'm going out of town for some nephew-sitting-computer-fixing. So for (almost) 48 hours I will be gone. Saturday is the prime day that Diez will need some personal attention. EEO, background checks, and drug tests will be conducted. I won't trust my puppy with just anyone!! Seriously, I'm going to DC for less then 48 hours. Sis and B-i-L are going to Marine Corps Ball. With the going rate for baby sitting at $18/hour it was cheaper to buy me a plane ticket. And heck, the dogs will be fed, Sean will sleep in his own bed, and I get to fix their computers. I just hope they consider getting DSL before I arrive. Dial-up could be real slow if I have to download patches and fixes!Posted by Rebecca at 07:16 PM | Comments (0) | TrackBack

Did you see?
I haven't blogged in a few days... here's a recap: Thursday:I don't remember exactly what happened, but at some moment during BusiPlan class I realized my plan was impossible to complete and that I needed to change. So I've decided to do a plan for "Pitbull Accessory Lines" or PAL for short. It will start with the clothing I already make, and possibly add doggie couches later. Still thinking about that. Friday:
Met with Jesse for lunch. Smashing! Then stayed up late watching the last two weeks worth of Everwood and Gilmore Girls. I tape them. In two and a half hours I watched four shows. That's a lot of commercials. Saturday:
Walked Diez in the dark. Ate breakfast, read the news, fell back asleep with SpongeBob on the tube. Woke up with Diez growling. Come to find out a bird had gotten in the house and was trying to break out the window. I opened the door and scooted him out. At least the ceiling fans weren't running. Trip to Walmart Wareham in search of orange cammie fabric. None. Picked up regular cammie fabric and fleece to match. Stop at Dunks. Liquid Crack On Tap. Home and a burst of rearrange the furniture fever. Kitchen still a mess, furniture moved. Wind chime fixed. Diez in a sunbeam Thinking of afternoon walk.

Therepy
I left school today when the laptop battery died. I hit Boarders bookstore and grabbed a book on upholstery. I want to build Diez a couch, versus buying one. Or two. I then hit the Tree and found fleece throw blankets for $3.99. I don't intend to use them as throw blankets, but as covers for Diez's current beds. I also picked up a three pack of hot sauce for $1.29 and a dog coat for $4.99 (it was size xxl). I stopped at Jo-ann's fabric but didn't find the pattern I was looking for. I also didn't find any fleece blanket kits I liked. My sister sent me one last year and Diez loves it so I figured one of his own would be a good idea. All the fleece blanket kits were kind of ugly or froofy. I zoomied over to the Mill Stores. I love the Mill Stores. I was going to pick up a barrel to store the dog food in, but upon seeing the barrel in person, I realized it wasn't a) big enough or b) sturdy enough. I did pick up something I think they call a trash bin, but I can't be sure. $41 on debit and I was out the door. And off to Home Depot. Ok, why didn't I go before? Because the stop at Boarders earlier was actually the stop out of sequence. Think traffic patterns. If I hadn't stopped at Boarders earlier, my only left hand turn across traffic would have been departing the Mill Stores. I like to turn right when ever possible. Back to my story... At the Depot, while scoping for single men (as opposed to 'guys' or 'boy' or 'contractors'), I picked up four wheels for the bottom of my trash-bin-turned-dog-food-holder. And some hinges, never know when you'll need them. And a handle. I don't know why, I just did! A quick stop at the Stop & Rob for smilk (sorta like milk) and a frozen pizza. Oh, and a pack of english muffins (not blueberry or chocolate). Home to cook pizza. Wheel the trash-bin-turned-dog-food-holder. Eat pizza. Nap. Futz around with the cordless drill batteries. Grrr..... Walk with dog. Write this blog.Posted by Rebecca at 04:56 PM | Comments (0) | TrackBack
Proven facts
You can study too much! Accounting instructor had given us a study guide... name things, discuss things, matching, etc.. Well wouldn't you leave it to Milen and myself to way over study. Rather then just knowing the names, we studied definitions, uses, heck, we even delved into history! When it finally came to the test, we just had to name. And I blanked out. Thanks bunches. And for Fannie Mae I guess we were suppose to have notes with some kind of time-line. Yeah, I missed that one. So now I have homework. Damn the man. I did get a 90 on my BusiLaw test. Scaled up from a 73. I'm not sure who flubbed the test so bad to justify such a scale, but thank you, thank you. Now I'm going to do some web surfing while holding court (there are lots of empty seats here... hint, hint) before going to Kmart and picking up some socks. Do you have solutions?
I spent most of yesterday doing multiple loads of laundry. In fact, with the exception of the sweats I was wearing, I washed ALL my clothes. So now I have a problem. Usually I have a good clothing rotation: some dirty, some clean, some in laundry limbo. With the rotation in effect, I didn't have a serious (ok, it was pretty bad) storage issue. Now with all my clothing washed I have no rotation, and no place to store everything! What the heck does everyone do with their clothing? Does this mean I have too much? Oh to be young again
Last night I met with Milen and friends to celebrate Milen's birthday. At Girardi's Cafe in Dennis we all ordered some pasta dishes while being entertained by an opera singer. She winters in such places as Busch Gardens. This winter she's going to be on a cruise ship in the Carribean entertaining the guest. She sand three songs. One from Phantom, one from La Bohemn, and a third I don't remember where it was from. And she even sang happy birthday to Milen. We were the last ones out of the small place (seats about 20). The food was excellent though. We then went to Steve & Ed's house where coffee, cake and presents were enjoyed. I didn't get home until midnight and slept in until 7:30a. It's a slow day. Watch out for those wild turkeys.Posted by Rebecca at 10:29 AM | Comments (0) | TrackBack

What a sound!
I had a test at 8am this morning. The sound of silence was not in the classroom. Instead it was the sound of sniffles, coughs, and blowing noses. Unfortunately, I was right there with them. So after class, but before school, I stopped at Kmart and picked up a packs of Lysol wipes, Puffs tissues, and a pack of Dayquil. Bring it on, I'm armed, ready, and packing a virus up my nose!!Posted by Rebecca at 09:32 AM | Comments (0) | TrackBack

Such are my priorities. My room looks like a tornado came through it. More so then usual (hush peanut gallery). Today, I shopped! Newbury comics: Sara Evans "Restless", Keith Urban "Be Here", DVD "Walking Tall" with Rock and Johny Knoxville. Both are super hot. Rock 'cuz he so freaking stacked and Knoxville because he can't procreate. Yes, that's hot. Payless: No BOGO, but did pick up two pairs of shoes. Home Depot: Switches. In line cord switches. I'm sure there is a fancy-fancy name for them, but that's not the point! (Note to self, must get new cordless drill, cheapy RI JL one died) Old Navy: Attention ON shoppers!! The new plus size selections are not available in the store. I did pick up six long sleeve t-shirts. Two are white because I'm bound to stain one. Kmart: Dog food and two of those carabeaner things sold at the checkout lines. Can never have enough of those. Lane Bryant: Sleepy pants with rubber duckies on them. Jeans, sweater. Nothing on sale. Damn it! Linens & Things: Present for Milen's b-day tomorrow. CVS: card and wrap. Half gallon of 2% moo juice. ****************************************************************************But before all this I had lunch from McFatinabag.

Comfort zone
I was zooming around the net yesterday when the Payless.com site crashed FireFox. When I reopened it, the profile settings were all screwy. My bookmarks were changed, extensions were gone, I wasn't happy. After being mad at FireFox this morning, I did a hard drive search of recently modified files. I found the offending profile setup and deleted it. Once again I started FireFox and was able to delete the tag for the offening profile and select the good one. I hope that clears things up for everyone. In other news.... I must go shopping. Diez is dangerously low on food and Milen's birthday is tomorrow. Keith Urban's first video a few years back had a really hot car in it. I don't know, I think a Mazda sport car or something. Keith is pretty hot himself, but that's another story. I'm now watching his new video and he's riding a hot motorcycle. It appears custom. irregardless, I'd like to know it's manufacturer. And who does Keith's hair should be fired.Posted by Rebecca at 09:37 AM | Comments (0) | TrackBack
Moving around, in my PJ's
The kitchen table is about 50% cleaner then an hour or so ago. In the storage closet, I've come to the conclusion that clothing, especially jackets, should not be stored here. I'm going to have to toss out some very moldy coats and sneakers. That's fine, if they were in there long enough to mold, I wasn't wearing them anyway. I turned the tool box around and squished it in under the half empty closet rod. (hold on, Regis and Kelly are screaming on the TV, must mute stupidity). I can move around better and hopefully will find a home for my weed trimmer. I've downloaded the latest version of FireFox. It has a 'live bookmark' function that works as an RSS feeder (blog subscriptions type thingy). How many revisions has M$ released for it's browser? Hmmmm.... I'm going to shower, do some dishes (the big ones that need to go downstairs), and maybe even dust off the ceiling fans now that they are off. (I still don't understand what the crap Regis and Kelly are talking about) Diez is not liking the closed door effect the weather is having. Since it is so cold, I woke up to find the temp in the house at 60f. Outside? 34f. Toasty. I turned on the heat to knock the chill off. It was so cold last night that before turning in, I set up the heater in Fish's tank. It was a slow warmer, but kept the water from dropping super low. This morning I topped off his tank with some warm water. I kind of felt bad for him. Would you visit a volcano that is predicted to blow it's top any minute? Crazy tourists.Posted by Rebecca at 09:29 AM | Comments (0) | TrackBack

Dropped a chapter from next weeks test. Didn't torture us with more lecturing. Computer: Power light on, but no power. Try to reset, nothing. Had to unplug the power cord before I could get it to turn on. Now there is a fan whirling wildly. Bad bearings I think. Or attack of the dust bunnies. ME!! Oh no, I have stuffy nose this morning and most of the day. Now it's back and running! Oh, damn! to bed with me (after I walk Diez).Posted by Rebecca at 08:15 PM | Comments (0) | TrackBack

Windfall?
Class this morning was a record 15 minutes. Geez, no wonder why only 50% showed up. Work was zooie. Trying to get stuff done then trying to process payroll while three guys were moving furniture and removing the AC's. Absolute chaos. I noticed there were new faces among the timesheets, which meant waiting for the fat guy to bring the courier bags. And on, and on. I left a half hour late while the VP was like, 'leaving already?'. Yeah, deal. Home and walk Diez around the block. See NO ONE. Home again and check the mail. I have a letter from the VA saying that I need to call in to get my money. It's dated September 29th. I'm not suppose to call until October 1st. This has me worried that my allowance is f'ed up from cancelling my summer course. I guess if I get twice as much as I'm suppose to, I'll know for sure. It's still two days away, so my last $20 will have to hold me until then. I need to focus on school, but my focus factor is -15. Failure is immanent if I can't get it together. No, don't wait up for me. Court is canceled for Wednesday. I have no AM class, so I won't be on campus, but I will probably still be in bed. First test on Friday. Supersize test next Tuesday PM. I think I'm ready to withdraw from life now. Check please!Posted by Rebecca at 06:16 PM | Comments (0) | TrackBack

Audition tape
I see Britney has made an audition tape for the Playboy channel. Too bad it's been passed off as a video for common play on VH1. Hopefully someone will come to their senses and remove this soft core porn from the early morning rotation.Posted by Rebecca at 08:26 AM | Comments (0) | TrackBack

I shop at Lane Bryant's. It's not my favorite place to shop. The style, in general, is not me. I'm not a 'metro' girl. I prefer jeans and tees. Here is a list of items purchased:- 2 Tee's, 2 for $29, regular $19.50 each
- 4 BOGO 1/2, bras regular: $30, $30, $24, $24. Discount $15, $12

Parking for beginners
I was walking Diez around the block a few minutes ago and we came across a car in the woods. Go back and read the first sentence, then skip to the next one. That's right, a car in the woods. The front wheels were sorta still in contact with the ground. The rear wheels were suspended up in the air, with the rear bumper a good five feet up a sapling. Of course, it's right across the street from a yard sale in progress. Who could have been driving? Well if you guess the old(er) guy who was telling the cop he didn't have his hearing aid in, you'd be wrong. It was his wife. She was standing at the yard sale calling every family member she could think of (she was currently talking to her son, who sounded many states away). Of course she also sounded as if her hearing aid wasn't in.. hello? Hello? Joey, can you hear me?... There must have been little happening in town at that very moment because not only was the motorcycle cop parked in the middle of the road (which is an example of how quiet the neighborhood streets are) but also a regular cruiser cop showed up. The old(er) man was telling the cops how he thought they needed a tow truck. You think? I considered coming back home and grabbing my camera. I get a neat (strange?) little thrill out of photographing accident scenes, especially silly ones. Like how did this woman back her car into the woods at a 90 degree angle to the street? Let me just keep shaking my head... but I didn't go back and take pictures. I thought it would be wrong to blatantly stand in the road, in front of a yard sale in progress, and photograph a car wedged in the woods while the driver was yelling on a phone to every family member she could reach out and touch.Posted by Rebecca at 11:41 AM | Comments (0) | TrackBack
